Don’t let your teammates down!

CTD Pride means representing your family, school, and community with respect.

CTD Pride

Every player represents her family, school, and community. Players need to act in a way that will make all of the above proud. Players must treat their teammates, coaches, and the officials with respect. Failure to act in this expected manner may result in loss of playing time or possible dismissal from the team.

Players are encouraged to participate in multiple sports. This will add to their overall high school experience and will help them continue to build skills that will help them be successful. Participating in Chase The Dream is strongly encouraged, as being stronger, faster, and more explosive will make you a better athlete; which will make Chase The Dream better!

Academics

Students first, athletes second.

Excellence in behavior and grades is part of being a CTD player.

Chase The Dream basketball players are expected to be excellent in the classroom with their behaviors as well as their grades. Our players are students first and athletes second. Random grade checks will be assessed throughout the season. Any student-athlete with a “D” or lower may be required to sit out of practices and games until that grade is raised. They may still be required to attend practices and games, but they will have to sit out and watch. Players also should be doing what their teacher expects of them in the classroom. A negative report from a teacher may result in disciplinary action according to the coach’s discretion.

Attendance

Commitment to the team.

Communicate early about conflicts; missing practice can affect playing time.

Being a part of a team requires a commitment to that team. However, there may be a legitimate reason that a player may have to miss a practice or a game. If there is a circumstance where a player will miss a practice or game, the reason needs to be communicated with our Chase The Dream staff immediately. Our coaches spend a lot of time planning practice and one person not showing up or not telling the coach about her absence in a timely manner may have a major impact on the practice plan.

Basketball is a sport that is very demanding physically and mentally. Absence from practice may result in loss of playing time for a number of reasons. Players who miss practice are expected to take extra time to meet with the coaching staff to learn the concepts or discuss the plays that they missed at practice. That player may be expected to make up the physical part of practice that she missed, whether it is extra work on a skill or extra conditioning.
